2nd round

Packing has been a slow draining process the past week, mainly because I've been bed-ridden with this bug for majority of that time. Went back to the doctor last night because I started feeling worse again. Sinus infection didn't get zapped with the z-pak...so now I'm on a 2nd round of antibiotics (without insurance)...Biaxin.

Thank goodness for modern medicine, but hopefully this bug I have isn't going to be resistant to Biaxin as well. grrrrr.

I have to be out of my place by midnight tomorrow night.

Pray for energy, packing speed, & return to health. I can't afford this to turn into a major episode.

uggggg, this economy!!! gotta laugh some how...

A few of you know already, but I guess I may as well tell it to the rest of the world...

I experienced the unemployment line, first hand this week.

The company I workED for in California is struggling to survive in this economy, and began reduction in force restructuring lay offs this week. My position was terminated, while I was at home, horribly ill in bed. I found out via a voice message on my cell phone Tuesday morning. Fantastic, huh? Even more fun, I had to go to the MinuteClinic that evening for antibiotics (ragining sinus infection)...and found out my insurance had already been cut. No COBRA paperwork, no advance notice, no grace period, nothing. The other favorite part of mine is I'm between leases... just signed a new one, with a gal who's expecting me to move in this weekend... and I have to be out of my present apartment by next Wednesday.

And here I was supposed to be in Texas for work this week and at the end of the month again.

For all you who've been kicked to the curb and then had salt poured in your open wounds...I feel your pain.

I'm making decisions minute by minute right now, not sure what I'm going to do tomorrow. It's looking like my most economical decision at this point is turn my RAV North.

I may be home before next weekend.

It's amazing how quickly your entire plans can be changed by the course of events. ...and just when I think I've got things in control...

God reminds me He's got the whole world in His hands.

Be praying for me, if you think of it.

Get Smart

My new roomie told me about the local dollar cinema - I had no idea we had one! Apparently it shows movies that are out of the main theaters, but not yet rentable. (There's even a foreign films theater nearby!!)

So this Tuesday night I took myself out on a date (with myself), and laughed the whole way through Get Smart. Oh geez, Steve Carell is hilarious! What a fun way to spend a weeknight.

Come Together

So, I'm supposed to be working right now, but instead I'm paying attention to lyrics that I've heard a million times before...but am just now hearing as though it was like the first time...

Ever REALLY listen to the lyrics of the Beatle's "Come Together"??? What ARE they talking about???

Here come old flattop he come grooving up slowly
He got joo-joo eyeball he one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker he just do what he please

He wear no shoeshine he got toe-jam football
He got monkey finger he shoot coca-cola
He say "I know you, you know me"
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
Come together right now over me

He bag production he got walrus gumboot
He got Ono sideboard he one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knee
Hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease
Come together right now over me

He roller-coaster he got early warning
He got muddy water he one mojo filter
He say "One and one and one is three"
Got to be good-looking 'cause he's so hard to see
Come together right now over me

FOX NEWS

Did you know the cosmetics and body care products you use on a daily basis could be contaminated with chemicals?

The Environmental Working Group performed laboratory tests and detected 16 chemicals in blood and urine samples from 20 teenage girls between the ages of 14 and 19.

These chemicals are linked to health risks such as cancer and hormone disruption, according to a report released last week by the Environmental Working Group.

The group recommends that consumers avoid the following ingredients when purchasing beauty products:

— DMDM hydantoin and imidanzolidinyl urea, which are toxic contaminants
— Fragrance and dyes, which can lead to allergies, cancer and problems of the nervous system
— Methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone, which can cause allergies and problems of the nervous system
— Parbens or “-parben,” which can lead to hormone disruption
— “PEG” and “-eth,” which are toxic contaminants
— Sodium lauryl or laureth sulfate, which can cause skin damage
— Triclosan and triclocarban, which can lead to problems with the thyroid and environmental concerns
— Triehanolamine (TEA), which can cause allergies and contain toxic contaminants

Products to avoid include:

— Anti-aging creams with lactic, glycolic, AHA and BHA acid
— Hair dyes with ammonia, peroxide, p-phenylenediamine, diaminobenzene, and/or all dark permanent hair dyes
— Liquid hand soaps with triclosan
— Nail polish and nail polish remover with formaldehyde
— Skin lighteners with hydroquinone
