The Truth About Flying

Opposite the Blue are the Reds

We had such an epic summer & fall, huh MP, SM, MM, DS, SW, ML?! Those dinner parties were great fun. I'll miss cooking up a storm for y'all. I promise to whip up a feast for anyone who comes down to visit me in Sunny City! We still have another bottle of Taylor's vintage port to open, after all! And SM, I promise the Two Buck Chuck won't make an appearance. :) Thanks for making sure we had the best of the best to clear our arteries after my cooking: L'Ecole No. 4, Leonetti's, Taylor's, Gunderloch... not to mention the great music!

Blues from the TreeHouse

I'm trying to soak up the last bit of enjoyment I can out of my little TreeHouse before I pack up all my stuff to move. I feel about as blue about the idea as my walls... I'll miss this place and all the work I put into it! (Had so much fun designing and making the bookcases/fireplace. At least I'll be able to take those with me.) And good thing M is taking the lease right after me. I will definitely be back to visit. Lots of memories here.

I'm HOME for Christmas!

It's so good to be home & see the whole family again! Including Meow, who guards the presents. :)

Ahhhhh...Austin

Much better than La Quinta.

San Angelo

Whoever coined San Angelo's catch phrase, "The Place To Come For Good Times," must never have been here!

I'm sitting in the San Angelo airport, waiting for my connection into Houston on my way to Austin. The airport is about the size of HOME's, but slightly more comfortable...and by that I mean it at least has wireless internet. Which is a lifesaveer, too, because I've been stranded here for almost four hours now. I did manage to find a quiet phone corner with some chairs and a wall to lean up against, where I've nappeds, sipped coffee, futzed on my laptop & BB, but generally felt like staring at the floor wishing that I had at ducked into the bathroom and changed out of my suit before I checked my luggage. I want nothing more than to put these heels to rest for the remainder of the day. Well, that and a comfy bed to curl up in.

San Angelo's a whirl-wind work stop on my way to Austin for the 2008 budgets meeting. If you ever stay here, don't bid your room on Priceline. I love Priceline, don't get me wrong. But when it comes to bidding on budget rooms, I've definitely learned not to bid lower than a 3 star, or you get what you pay for ($40/night). Thankfully I only had to stay at the La Quinta for one night. Sketchy. I guess I took one for the team.

I'm looking forward to being in Austin tonight.

More than that, I'm looking forward to being HOME on Sunday!!

Yeaa!! They called for the Houston boarding!! I'm gone...

Missing Meow

Christmas, California-style

Home (away from HOME)

Thank goodness for IKEA! I was able to round up a bunch of basics all in one place. My bare-bones apartment isn't so naked now.

Sunny City

I'm back in Sunny City after spending a week all-over-the-map in Texas. In some ways it feels good to be "home," but it's definitely not anything like HOME! I just finished floating around in the pool, looking up at the stars framed by palm trees - at 9:00 at night at CHRISTMAS TIME! Definitely a weird feeling to be able to do that!

I think Sunny City is beginning to grow on me, though, or at least it's becoming more comfortable! Getting around is becoming easier. I don't get as lost as I first did. :) Thank goodness for google maps on my BB, though! The latest version provides a gps-type service using triangulation - which has saved my nondirectional butt several times, and is saving me on gas money too...

That's about it for now! I should probably get on with the day and do some Christmas shopping!
